Discover, create, and grow alongside a supportive community of passionate young artists this summer.

MassArt’s Summer Intensives offer high school students an exciting two-week opportunity to immerse themselves in art and design. Developed for students entering grades 10-12, this dynamic program is perfect for building a portfolio, learning new techniques, or diving into fresh creative mediums.

Whether you’re looking to explore new possibilities, refine your artistic skills, or prepare for future creative studies, these studio-based classes provide the tools, mentorship, and inspiration to take your art to the next level.

On-Campus Experience

Classes will take place on the MassArt campus. The in-person format allows students to experience the college’s facilities and studio spaces, including MAAM, MassArt’s Art Museum. Located on Huntington Avenue in downtown Boston, MassArt is a neighbor of the Museum of Fine Arts and the Isabella Stewart Gardner Museum.

Housing

Supervised housing will not be provided for students enrolled in in-person Summer Intensives classes. If you are interested in housing, please contact the MassArt Housing Office at summer@massart.edu. Minors will need to be accompanied by an adult in order to reside in the MassArt Residences.

Online Classes

To improve accessibility, After-School Studios includes a virtual class option. To participate, students will need access to a computer, laptop, or smartphone with video/camera capabilities, and a reliable internet connection.

Every online studio will utilize Zoom for virtual meetings. Other applications and online web resources, such as Google Classroom and Discord, may be used to organize assignments and other class content at the instructor’s discretion.

Online studio offerings may include:

  • Live presentations from faculty and check-ins each class
  • Time for creative art making, both independently and in class
  • Break out sessions in small groups
  • One-on-one and group critiques with faculty
  • Online resources such as virtual museum tours, TED Talks, external demo videos, “visiting” artists, virtual collaborations, etc.
